Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate.

    Stem poblano pepper, seed, and cut into 1/2" dice .Poblano peppers can vary in spice level; most are mild, but a few can be quite hot. Wash hands and cutting board after prepping.

    Cook the Ground Beef

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add ground beef to hot pan.

    Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Transfer ground beef to a plate. Keep pan over medium-high heat.

    Cook the Peppers

    Add poblano and white portions of green onions to hot pan. Stir often until lightly browned, 3-4 minutes.

    Add ground beef, seasoning blend, demi-glace, and 1 tsp. water. Stir until combined and wamred through, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Make the Sauce

    Place 2 tsp. butter ( not included in your box) in a small pot over medium heat. Let melt.

    Once butter has melted, add 2 tsp. flour ( not included in your box). Stir often until a golden brown paste forms, 3-5 minutes.

    Add 1/2 cup milk ( not included in your box) and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, stir occasionally until thickened, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner and stir in cheese, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper.

    Finish the Dish

    Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    Plate as pictured on front of card, filling tortillas with ground beef and peppers, cheese sauce, green portions of green onions, and **tortilla strips. Bon appétit!
